Why book a Long-Haul Road Trip?

The Shinkansen is fast, but it’s stressful. You have to drag your heavy suitcases through crowded stations, you miss the scenery because of the tunnels, and you can't stop to take a photo.

Our Private Multi-City Tours in Japan Road Trip is the ultimate luxury. We pick you up at your hotel, load your suitcases into the trunk, and drive you to your destination. But this isn't just a transfer, it's a tour. We stop at Mt. Fuji for lunch, visit the Hakone Open Air Museum, or relax at a lakeside cafe in Hamanako. You arrive in the destination refreshed, not exhausted.

On a Multi-day private driving expedition, we leave the highway behind. We wind through the volcanic landscapes of Hakone, drive the scenic coastlines of Shizuoka, explore the preserved samurai post-towns of the Kiso Valley, and marvel at the original castles of Hikone.

This is a journey for those who believe getting there is half the fun. Your private driver handles the navigation and luggage, while you enjoy.

Sample Itinerary : The Itinerary (5 Days / 4 Nights)

This plan is an example; the whole trip is customizable.

Day 1: The Mountains (Tokyo Hakone)

We pick you up at your Tokyo hotel and drive west toward the icon of Japan.

  • Morning: Drive to Mt. Fuji 5th Station (2,300m) for views above the clouds.

  • Lunch: Hoto Noodles near Lake Kawaguchiko.

  • Afternoon: Scenic drive to Hakone. Visit the Open Air Museum or take the Ropeway over the volcanic vents of Owakudani.

  • Stay: Luxury Ryokan (Onsen Inn) in Hakone.

Day 2: Tea & The Coast (Hakone Shizuoka)

Descend the mountains to the Pacific Coast.

  • Morning: Drive the Izu Skyline (one of Japan's best driving roads) for panoramic ocean views.

  • Afternoon: Visit the Nihondaira Plateau for a view of Fuji across the tea fields.

  • Activity: Stop at a local tea farm to pick and taste Japan’s freshest Green Tea.

  • Stay: Shizuoka City (Famous for Tuna and Wasabi).

Day 3: The Samurai Trail (Shizuoka Kiso Valley)

We detour into the Japanese Alps to walk the ancient path.

  • Morning: Drive north into the mountains to Magome-juku.

  • Afternoon: Walk the preserved Nakasendo Trail between Magome and Tsumago. These towns look exactly as they did in the Edo period, no cars, no power lines, just history.

  • Stay: Nagoya or a traditional inn in the Kiso Valley.

Day 4: Castles & Lakes (Nagoya Lake Biwa)

History comes alive as we approach the ancient capital.

  • Morning: Visit the Toyota Commemorative Museum (for car lovers) or Atsuta Shrine.

  • Afternoon: Drive to Hikone Castle. Unlike Osaka Castle (concrete reconstruction), this is an original wooden castle from 1622.

  • Evening: Sunset drive along the shores of Lake Biwa (Japan’s largest lake).

  • Stay: Hikone or Otsu (Lakeside Resort).

Day 5: Arrival in the Ancient Capital (Lake Biwa Kyoto)

A short final drive into the heart of Kyoto.

  • Morning: Visit Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei (the mountain protecting Kyoto).

  • Lunch: Traditional Kaiseki lunch overlooking the city.

  • Afternoon: Grand arrival in Kyoto. We drop you directly at your hotel or Ryokan doorstep.

As low as ¥46,000 / person

✅ What's Included:

  • 5 Days of Private Charter: 10 hours per day of private vehicle use.

  • Expert Driver-Guide: English-speaking driver to navigate and assist.

  • Driver’s Logistics: We cover the driver’s accommodation and meals for the trip (you don't need to book a room for them).

  • All Road Costs: Unlimited Fuel, Highway Tolls (which are expensive in Japan), and Parking Fees.

  • One-Way Fee: Covers the cost of the vehicle returning to Tokyo empty.

❌ Not Included:

  • Guest Accommodation: You book your own hotels/ryokans (we can provide recommendations!).

  • Guest Meals: Lunch and Dinner are at your own expense.

  • Entry Tickets: Museums, Shrines, or Ropeway tickets.

Best For:

  • Heavy Packers & Movers: Families relocating from a Tokyo hotel to a Kyoto hotel with 4+ large suitcases who want to avoid the hassle of luggage shipping services.

  • Slow Travelers: Those who believe the Shinkansen moves too fast and want to explore the "Real Japan" (rural villages, tea farms, and coastlines) in between the big cities.

  • History & Culture Buffs: Travelers who dream of walking the ancient Nakasendo Trail or visiting original samurai castles like Hikone, which are hard to reach by train.

Why Book This:

  • The Ultimate "Door-to-Door" Luxury: Moving cities in Japan usually involves dragging bags to a taxi, then through a massive train station, and then to another taxi. We eliminate that entirely. We load your bags in Tokyo and you don't touch them again until they are in your Kyoto hotel room.

  • Unlock the "In-Between" Japan: The bullet train spends 50% of the ride in tunnels. Your private road trip winds through the lush tea fields of Shizuoka, the volcanic peaks of Hakone, and the seaside roads of Izu, places most tourists fly right over.

  • Your Pace, Not the Train's: Want to sleep in and start at 11:00 AM? Want to spend 3 hours at a museum or make an unscheduled stop for strawberries? On a private expedition, the schedule bends to fit you, not the other way around.
